The Photo Gallery has been quiet for quite a while now, so another dive into the Archives.

What can I say, I have a soft spot for these bikes.

Alarmingly top heavy at zero speed, a riding position that was designed with no input from human anatomy, a 16" front wheel that could quickly dispose of the uninitiated rider in a corner, hotter than the face of the sun at temps above 75 ish, and a transmission that just screamed for a 6th gear. But still I love mine.

Its the kind of bike that if you own one, you almost understand all those riders of old BSA's, Ducati's, Triumph's, Zundapp's, Guzzi's etc. who when you talk to them say their bikes are "kinda quirky", but they would not own anything else.

I rode one of mine from Maine to Calf. back in 2011 and it was a revelation on the highway where its weight and aerodynamics were an advantage. A set of Bridgestone S-20 radials and a firm grasp of a 16" front's characteristics made 2 days in western NC an absolute hoot. The only thing today I have to say about the bike is keep moving, because dear God if you drop the it, you aren't picking the thing up anytime soon.

OK, congratulations VFRK Shane your (85?) VF1000R is Nov. 2022's BOTM.

A quick look shows 80 series tires, F1 cans and a tidy example of one of Honda's best looking bikes.

Congrats, Shane and great pick Michael.

I've had the good fortune to own one of these some years ago and agree with everything Michael says about them.  When asked what my favorite bike of all that I've owned it's always the same thing...1985 vf1000r.  I fondly remember surprising many a modern sport bike with my antique.  It was comfortable, predictable, fast and extremely rewarding.  The worst thing about it?  Good luck getting in and out of a gas station as it always, and I mean always, drew a crowd.

I wish I could remember what I did with my old girl?

I love all motorcycles.  Especially if they're a Honda.

Second worst thing... The VF1000R isn't one of the easiest to throw around on curvy roads.. She still put's some weight on the scale..

Then again, I don't recall Honda ever designed a bike that cool for the next two decades (or more) to come.. Reminds me that my VF1000R is three years short of becoming 40 years old..

:thumb Great choice Michael. :thumb
Those that walk along with the great herd, regularly walks through the crap left behind by others..
