Good point Mike, I missed that detail of the pegs. Think that's a KG engine guard.
I like the drag bar setup with rectangular headlight and the dual horns, looks Easy Riderish. I know I'm not that guy. But I could be for an hour or two at the local doughnut shop bike night on that. :)

Bike of the Month / Jan 2026 Bike of the month

Well, Happy New year everyone. Its somehow 2026 already!

It started snowing up here 2 weeks before Thanksgiving, and has been pretty relentless since then. The plow trucks are rumbling by the house again for about the 4th time today as I type this, so its time to talk about bikes to boost moral around here :)

This months winner is a tidy example of what Honda did so well in the 80's in my opinion. A mid range bike with some punch to it. You could buy a 500, 700/750, or 1100 Magna back then which covered most peoples riding styles and needs, and they all had similar design cues and price points.

I've never owned a Magna, but if I did, I think it would look like this one. I know they came with 2 piece seats, but not sure that one shown isn't an aftermarket, maybe someone could chime in on that.

Congratulations isaac1909, your 1986 Magna VF700C is Jan. 2026's BOTM.

I know from your post you sold it on for a Kawasaki, but thanks for sharing it with us when you owned it and repaired it.

Nice Bike!!!

That bike gets lookers no mater where you stop. I still think its one of the best looking bikes honda ever came out with. That front wheel size made you feel like it wanted more throttle in the corners. Yours is quite the looker.

I put about 5000 miles on mine, all but the last 300 were fun. I am the polar opposite of the UJM. The leg position was just too tight for me. I rode it down to NC but I took a lot of breaks, I rode it back with one gas and go stop. I was wondering how I was going to get off of it when I got in my driveway.

Magoo is my height but he even looked comfortable on Tom's VF400.

Ebby and I are pretty fond of each other.

The VF1000R was a joy on the interstate.  I could have went further if it hadn't dipped into the 30's on the way home.

Nice to hear from you.

I am the UJR, "Universal Japanese Rider" 5'6", 150 lbs, 32" inseam. Took me until we hit Asheville NC at about 1,100 miles for me and the bike to agree on how to ride it. Wasn't so bad after that.
What's really amazing is that in 2007, when I crashed my Vf700S in NC and spent 4 days in the hospital, the V4 guys from Binghamton NY took it upon them selves to recover my bike and put it on a trailer, which meant one guy put his hand up and rode back,800 miles. That guy was Magoo, at 6'2" on his VFR1000R that I eventually bought. He did it in one day...............
I did manage a 740 mile day on my Cross Country, but 741 was out of the question. :)
