Bike of the Month / Re: August 2017 Bike of the Month

Michael & All,

You had to go back quite a ways for this one.

I helped her out a few times back in the day, but the last message I received from her was on 4/17/14 with nothing since. I recall that she was about to make a move about that time.

Seems as how it may be a dead end.

Best,

John

Bike of the Month / August 2017 Bike of the Month

This months winners photo caught my eye a while ago. For whatever reason though I was never able to download it to my computer.

Last night I got back from Europe and with better internet and a different browser I finally managed.

So, congratulations Krista (K2gdub13) your 83 V45 Magna is August 2017's BOTM.

The lighting suggests early dusk, the bike is on the sidewalk, the photo not centered, jacket casually tossed over the back, helmet on the mirror, neon signs at right angles in the back round. I really like this shot for it authenticity. This is what our bikes really look like. Thanks for posting.

Edit: If any one here knows Krista could you give her a shout. I PM'ed her a month ago when I could not post her pic but did not hear back. Thanks.

This leads me to believe it is a slip fit (no gaskets )

Based on this, look at the inside of the muffler mount for high spots and verify all welds

Did you fit the muffler to the header? Kerker don't require a muffler gasket,  trying to verify if the Mac does

One thing we can do is a newsletter. Only goes out to those who opt in for it. I was thinking it might be a good idea to use it for referrals of trusted vendors. Probable restart the old V4Mkt model with some drop shippers. Brian had a killer site going. Alex, our eldest was stunned that we had a website. He disigned the flaming wrench back when he was 16 iirc. So, he gets to be a part of it.

I've got my account set up.

Looks good Billy/Dana! I've used up all my spare parts so I'll be seeing if the checkout works pretty soon.

By tomorrow we should be live! Much thanks to Dana (the wife) and Bob B. (our webmaster and fellow V4 rider) for building this site. Dana is smarter than she thinks.
We have been testing and reworking and think we have the bugs out of it but feel free to comment. The plan at this point for forum member discounts is keep doing biz via email. The website is geared towards non members. Maybe that will change in the future but for now we are ready to rest.

Thanks to all, but especially Billy C., for his excellent breakdown, and Clay for help with many things, but particularly tuning the rear shocks! I will report back on how it goes (already have the K&N, the Mac 4-1, the collector and front pipe gaskets. All I need now is the muffler to exhaust system gasket, which looks to be around 64mm (2.5"). If anyone knows the size of this, let me know, and I will search to see if I can find it too. THanks again!!!

Thanks Billy for throwing some light on a very blurry subject.

Legislation has forced the manufactures to sharpen their pencils on emission controls.

30 years ago a carb was good enough and nobody looked twice at a rich running motor, but today is a different story altogether.
