Title: Oct. 2015 Bike of the Month
Post by: FromMaine on October 02, 2015, 09:02:51 PM
This months winner is a dyed in the wool V4 enthusiast, and a worthy winner of BOTM.

Generous with his time, parts and expertise, he is a bedrock member of this Forum, and I have the highest respect for his opinions and mechanical abilities.

There are 2 motorcycle racing liveries that make me weak in the knee's. Walter Wolf Suzuki's and Rothman Honda's.

Congratulations John Hilmer, your VFR400 is Octobers Bike of the Month.

Yes, I got your e-mail. Yes, I ignored it, sorry :)

A Big Congratulations John. That's one Purdy bike. I think you already know my feeling on the subject.

Another great pick Michael. This can't always be an easy job, thanks for doing it.  :thumb  :thumb

Thank you All for the kind comments.

Noah, a similar bike might make a good one for you to get started on if you aren't too tall for it like I am.

  Great selection! Great resto!
Is there any rule for BOTM that precludes the same bike winning twice under different owners at different times of course? I only ask because I heard a rumor John willed me that bike.  :lol8:  20 yrs ago I knew this older guy who had a late 60s Chevelle SS that was built and 90% perfect. I told him I would be his son and call him Dad if he would will it to me. It was a joke. He ain't dead yet. Mmmaybeeee?  :lol8:

Billy, Billy, Billy,

I doubt anyone here is holding their breath on this proposal/rumor.

However, you might ask Chris, (Magna 86) if he believes it.  :lol8:

If he buys into this you are a far better salesman than I thought.  :rolling:

Look John you won! That bike is still  at your house and not in my garage according to the picture.  :lol8:

Billy no no that won't work sorry. I'm still trying that trick with some of my older hotrod friends.  :bike:

Bill,

Thanks for the post and the appreciation of my work though the bad stuff doesn't show in these images.

The real work on this one was getting it to run correctly, which I did after members here convinced me to ignore early low compression readings when it had set idle for years.

That journey is another story.

Saving just one titled VFR 400 F made me feel really good.

Thanks Raymond,

Please pardon an old man's ignorance.

Being that it is so rare here I wasn't sure what was proper.

I've seen it referred to in many ways here and never searched it out properly.
