Post by: N2BRK on November 13, 2007, 05:53:43 PM
The posts in this forum were recently lost.  For now, this is a copy of the registration agreement:

By registering, using or reading the V4hondabbs.com forums (the BBS) you hereby agree to the following terms and conditions:

Membership to the BBS is predicated on your ADHERENCE to the rules and policies detailed below. Failure to abide by these rules will result in the closure of your forum account and an end to your Membership on the site.  This is a private membership forum, with limited viewing allowed to guests.

In compliance with The Children's Online Privacy Protection, you MUST be over the age of 13 to register for Membership.

Considering the real-time nature of this bulletin board, it is impossible for us to review messages or confirm the validity of information posted. Please remember that we do not actively monitor the contents of and are not responsible for any messages posted. We do not vouch for or warrant the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of any message, and are not responsible for the contents of any message. The messages express the views of the author of the message, not necessarily the views of the BBS or any entity associated with the BBS or its owners/associates/assigns/or John Doe 1-100.  Any information contained in this forum is delivered "as-is" without any form of warranty expressed or implied. Any use of the information contained within is solely at your own risk.

Any user who feels that a posted message is objectionable is encouraged to contact us immediately by email at admin@v4hondabbs.com. We have the ability to remove objectionable messages and we will make every effort to do so, within a reasonable time frame, if we determine that removal is necessary. This is a manual process, however, so please realize that we may not be able to remove or edit particular messages immediately.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use the BBS to post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise violative of any law. You agree not to post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you. You agree not to post any advertising except in the Business and Vendor forum (additional rules apply), URL's with affiliate id's or tracking numbers or anything which actively promotes your site or company. You agree not to use the addresses of any member on the forum for any other purpose than 1-1 personal communication. Any mailing in bulk to the forum Members (outside of official BBS Administrator/Moderator communication) or any unsolicited e-mail to members will result in immediate suspension of your membership. You agree not to use more than one registered forum account and not to represent yourself as another person, company or entity.

Although the BBS does not and cannot review the messages posted and is not responsible for the content of any of these messages, we reserve the right to delete any message for any or no reason whatsoever. You remain solely responsible for the content of your messages, and you agree to indemnify and hold harmless the BBS and their owners/agents/assigns/John Doe 1-100, with respect to any claim based upon transmission of your message(s). We reserve the right to revoke your membership to the BBS or disable your posting ability for any or no reason whatsoever.

We also reserve the right to reveal your identity (or whatever information we know about you) in the event of a complaint or legal action arising from any message posted by you.

YOUR MEMBERSHIP TO THE BBS IS ALSO PREDICATED ON YOUR ADHERENCE TO THESE RULES. If you violate any of these rules your account will be suspended and you may be permanently banned from membership at our discretion:

With all of that said, no one really wants rules.  I am the last one to want to make rules.  Let's self-police by thinking before we post!  Additions may appear below to clear up rules, to modify them, or for any other reason.

Acceptance:
If you are a member, you accept these rules.  You understand that I might add to, change, remove, or otherwise modify them.  You don't hate me...much
Cheesy   You will do all you can to have a good time and not prevent anyone else from doing the same.  You accept these rules whether you have been notified of changes or not.

Language:
The rules of language use have been clear to most of us for years.  However, a recent complaint has forced me to spell it out in this post.  No one has violated the rules lately, but some people want to censor the site and I am against it.  The following should end the issue:

We are all adults, and this site is not aimed at being family entertainment fit for all ages.  Language on this site may be offensive at times, to some people.  This is true of any public setting where motorcyclists may congregate; a ride, a bike night, bar, BBQ, rally, etc.  Foul language is not becoming of you there or here, but it is going to happen from time to time and that's understandable.  However, I'll ask you to self-police and try not to go off the deep-end with profanity.  If you are a habitual user of foul language, I ask that you try to clean up your act while you visit the site, but don't be afraid to drop a word here and there.

When the situation seems appropriate, like in relating an experience; "this asshole Cager cut me off this morning!!!", I am ok with your choice of using the word asshole.  HOWEVER, when disagreeing with a member; "you are an Asshole!", the post will be edited and the poster will be suspended for a minimum of one week.  This is unacceptable.  The Admin or Moderators will use their judgment in this situation, weather to edit a post, warn the user, or suspend a user.  Their decision is final.

Some slang or stereotyping may appear from time to time in light humor, and that is generally ok.  However, when it crosses the line into being hateful towards a person or people, it will be dealt with as above, and falls under the discretion of the Admin and Moderators.

Moderators:
As I assign moderators, I do so because I find them to be dedicated to the site and generally level-headed.  If they need to act, I support them.  Whining to me won't get your post put back on.  I expect that moderators act as a thermostat to keep the atmosphere comfortable.  They will not rule with an "iron-fist", but rather give input as needed to maintain harmony.

For Sale/Trade/Wanted section:
This is not Ebay.  Attempts to run an auction will be shut down.  This includes EBAY Businesses trying to list their wares on the FOR AUCTION NOTIFICATION forum.

Nudity:
Nudity is not permitted anywhere on the site.  That includes Avatars, Sig lines, and any uploaded pictures in the gallery.

Sig Lines

I am still going to allow HTML in your Sig line, but please keep your sig small and of something at least loosely related to your bike or the theme of the site; 200x200 is a good idea.  Banners and advertisement is prohibited, as are other wasteful displays.  This isn't Times-Square, let's lose the clutter Wink

*** Business and Vendor Rules ***

Welcome to our site!  Business and Vendors should feel free to make a post listing their products.  I do not charge a fee for advertising, but I ask that you consider throwing the "boys" a discount if they are a member of this site, and identify themselves as such when they order.

A mini-FAQ; some rules and guidelines:

How do you know if you are considered a B/V member?

If you are a business or proprietor that regularly sells products or services on your own or through a website/ebay site/brick+morter etc., then you fit the profile.  If you do market testing or any other product research, you also fit the profile.

Contact information

You MUST provide your business address, contact phone number, email address, and any website information in your B/V post.  If you read some of the older posts, we recently had a problem with a B/V that disappeared with a lot of people's money and there was very little contact information.

Do I need permission before posting?

No.  I am a very trusting person Smiley  I trust that you will not wish to tarnish your image or the perception of your product/service by being scolded or banned from the site for not adhearing to these rules.

Posting rules

You may make business-type posts in the B/V forum only.  You may not advertise in any other forum.  You may not answer "Where can I buy..." questions in posts.  Members (on their own) may suggest buying from you, especially if you have given them great service!  Our most respected ones get all the word-of-mouth praise and advertising that they could ever want!

When I say business-type posts in the B/V forum only, that means ONLY.  Making posts of your goods in the FOR AUCTION NOTIFICATION forum is not acceptable.

Signatures

You are allowed to include your business name, phone number, and one website address in your plain text signature.  NO HTML.  Sorry, no billboards Wink

Can I come on other forums with group buys or special sales?

No.  If you have a special sale, or a group buy that you are trying to do, make a reply or edit to your B/V post with all the details.  Then use our PM feature to notify Dan (user "DLK" ) of your promotion.  He will THANK YOU and then pin your post in the B/V forum for 24 hours.  He will also make a locked post in the main discussion forum promoting your sale and publically thanking you for your efforts!

Answering tech questions

You may answer tech questions outside the B/V forum if a member specifically asks for product information from you.  You may also reply to any general technical or non-technical question if you are participating as a member and not using the thread as an oppurtunity to circumnavigate the rules.

Flaming

Flaming or bashing of other products or services is prohibited.

Warnings/Suspension/Banning

A moderator, or the Admin, may have to give you a warning for violating the rules.  We may edit your post or even delete it.  We will be polite... once.  If it continues, I may take action by suspending you for a set period of time, or banning you entirely.  I don't ever expect to need to do this.  In business, your image is everything.  Don't jeopardize it.

If I find the need to amend these rules in the future, I will edit this thread and give notice by marking it edited and providing that date in the description field.  This is a lot to absorb at once, so if you are unsure or still have questions, PM me!

*this list may be modified at any time.  I'll give notice once in the main forum in a locked thread.

If you are reading this post, it is either because you are surfing the site for fun, you are on this list and pouting about, or you have made mention of someone that is NOT welcome on this site, and have been directed to read this post.

The following people have *deeply* earned the disrespect of being on this list.  I do not care to discuss the reasons, and they are not up for discussion - public nor private.  If you happen to mention someone on this list, you will be warned politely and your post may be modified.  If you push the issue, you will be suspended or banned.  Be advised that there are many searchable threads about these people, and they may or may not have been removed or locked.  Do not attempt to post to these threads.  I make no statements about these people other then to tell you they are NOT WELCOME in my "house" here on the BBS.

The list:

Andy, aka Andrew Weisburg, aka banned vendor, aka Andy's Showroom, aka MANY other aliases.  The driving force and single reason for me creating every rule on this site, this forum, and all Business/Vendor rules.

Mark Spangler - unscrupulously sold a running bike to someone on this site.  Member received a non-running bike missing many parts, etc.  Then he tried to withhold the title.  Scum.

Mark Douglas - took payments from many members and then ran off with the money.  Slime.  He still shows up on eBay from time to time as other sellers.  Look for Canada as the location.

Doorguy aka Doorguy123 - Multiple account holder on Flea-bay shill bidding on v4 parts.  He came to the BBS to argue and I caught him in what I believe are lies.

Now here's the best part about this site.  I tend to leave things alone until there is a problem.  So, at any time some or all of these people may have id's on this BBS.  If they are quiet, I'm fine to let them bottom-feed.  If they pop up, I cancel their account.  They may create another at some time, and avoid the IP ban I'll place on them.  That's to be expected with the type of personalities that these people may possess.  If they are quiet, I leave them alone.  If they pop up... I delete.  It's kinda simple.

If you attempt to call these people out or otherwise make trouble by starting or contributing to threads involving these people, you may be warned/suspended/banned, etc.

Lastly, all messages and posts on this site are intended for MEMBERS and not 3rd parties -especially those mentioned above.  Also member addresses listed on the site by signatures or profiles are held privately and are NOT for use by anyone other then another MEMBER.  Intercepting or forwarding messages intended for MEMBERS to read is in violation.

When registering, use an email address from your ISP account; ie not yahoo, gmail, etc.
