This months winner is someone who has been on the list for awhile also. Theres some backstory to this which explains why.
A few years back I attended the first Rice O Rama Japanese Motorcycle show in Massachusetts. To get there I left at 4 am. and rode 300 miles in the rain. At the gate the guy said $5 entry and $5 to park under cover, which considering my sodden state seemed like an excellent idea. As I was stuffing my riding boots under the collector to try and dry them a bit a guy came over and asked me a bunch of questions about the bike and was writing on a placard. Seems the extra $5 got me entry into the Show part of the event. My jacket was draped on the handlebars dripping into a growing puddle, boots stuck underneath, my knapsack a bungeed glob on the passenger seat, my recently installed dented Grey/Blue tank providing a nice contrast to my Grey/Red Sabre. I had owned the bike for 3 years or so and had never even washed it. I laughed at the guy and said "Well, better luck next time". I then retired to look at bikes for the next 5-6 hours.
Fast forward to later that afternoon and I hear, Hey Mike, you won. Well I'm with a bunch of V4 Boardmembers, Jerry, Clay, Mongo,Jeremy, Dean,Brian etc. so obviously its a joke. No they say as they push me forward, yeah their kidding.....but I hear my name on the loudspeaker for the first time and well, I won second place in the over 1000 cc class. How or why is still a mystery to me as I saw many bikes there that were real show winners, including one members bike which he rode from Ct. and who had restored and rebuilt his to an incredibly high standard. His disappointment was obvious and deserved.
So, this is not about righting a wrong nor re-writing history. Its about recognizing a job well done to begin with.

Yes, you have sold the bike on and have a different one now, but its something you deserved when you owned it.
Nice choice. :thumb
Woo hoo, awesome, thanks Michael. It was a labor of love, and took 2 years to complete, but it was worth bringing it back to life. Hopefully the new owner is still enjoying it! Also kudos to Tomuza, the bodywork was his handiwork and was as stunning in person as it is in pics.
Congrats!
